Share My Love of Music

Since graduating from the Royal College of Music, I have taught music and have performed as soloist and accompanied at concerts in London, Zimbabwe, Sydney and South Africa.

I have been Finalist in the Chappell Gold Medal piano competition at the Royal College of Music, the highest award at the College, as well as Winner of the Scarlatti prize and Bursary to study at the Mozateum Summer School in Salzburg, Austria.

As a member of the Chamber Choir, I sang at Kings College, Cambridge and Westminster Abbey to commemorate the Centenary of the Royal College of Music.

Hi, I am Jennifer Clarkson.

Testimonials

  • Jenny is a very motivating, positive and encouraging teacher. Our son enjoys his lessons with her and has made great progress both in exam results and confidence in performing

  • We tried other schools, but it was not until the boys attended Clarkson Piano Studio that they really began to progress. Ms Clarkson sparked the boys' enthusiasm by presenting a path of development for them in which their work would be rewarded and recognised.  Lesson preparation is always thorough and the lessons are well structured.  Recent exam results have been outstanding and a reflection of the love they now have for piano.  Thanks Jen!

  • Thank you for guiding Madeleine through Piano.  She has utterly enjoyed having you as a teacher. Please feel free to give anyone my mobile or email if they require a reference with regards to you as I would highly recommend you.  I will send you an email and let you know how Madeleine is progressing through her HSC years."

  • It was such a pleasure to attend your annual concert and to see Charles play in public.  He's not performed in front of anyone before, so it was a wonderful challenge for him, and we were really proud of him for rising to it so well!  He remarked a few times how much he enjoyed the day (we had a nice family day all round) and I'm sure the performance was a big part of that....we are really chuffed with your tuition and support of him.  Many thanks again - it was just a delight!

    Jacqueline, North Ryde
  • (The concert) was all round a great experience for Charles and for us....to stretch him and give him something to shoot for....and I'm sure it's a lot of work to put on - thanks so much for going to such effort.

    Evan, North Ryde

  • It was a beautiful afternoon yesterday with all your students performing exceptionally well.  Venue was great and it all ran so smoothly and to schedule.  Thank you once again for teaching Erini.  She enjoys having you as her teacher!

  • Jenny not only makes sure that there is a balance of pieces and theory in her lessons, she delivers in so many interesting and fun ways.  Jen does not rely on strict discipline or easy leisure, but somehow is able to instill inspiration and the love of music in her young students.  You can tell how happy we felt when one day we witnessed our son, being stuck and frustrated with an essay homework, went to the piano and calmed himself down with a music piece before going back to his writing.

  • Here are some of the things I have enjoyed / benefited from Jen's teaching: - Lessons always start on time; no tardiness even when she has worked from home - Combination of practical and theory lessons - the understanding of theory is important in order to be a good pianist - Incorporation of playing pieces, scales, sight-reading and ear training in lessons - extremely important when preparing for exams! - Focus on both musical and technical aspects - Regular concerts at various venues with different environments - Excellent preparation with the student for eisteddfodau, exams, etc.

  • My son started learning piano from Jennifer since year 2, six years ago.  My son has learnt piano and composition which not many other piano teachers can offer.  The ABRSM result was excellent with distinction and it's all thanks to Jennifer's sophisticated skill, passion and patience.  Thank you, Jen.

  • Jen is a fun, enthusiastic and loving teacher with a communicative passion for music.  She is very competent technically and teaches solid basics in rudiments of music and piano technique.  She has high expectations for her students that motivate them to do their best and progress quickly.  We are very happy to have Jen as our teacher and would recommend her to anyone.

  • Jennifer is a fine pianist with many years' experience.  We found her a most reliable, enthusiastic and sensitive musician, who is also supportive and sympathetic in her accompanying.  It is always a pleasure to work with her.  Jennifer is a musician who seeks to pass her knowledge to her pupils and apply her skills in accompanying and teaching.
